Men’s Tennis Cruises to Senior Day Victory

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis program celebrated seniors Demis Taramonlis and Konstantinos Raptis Tuesday afternoon and cruised to a 4-0 victory over Charleston (W.V.).

The Highlanders would start off the evening with some tough doubles victories. Aditya Balsekar and Guilherme Severin got things started with a 6-4 win on court two. Taramonlis and Raptis started their senior days right with another 6-4 victory on court one to seal the 1-0 advantage. Robert Hagen and Charles Courteau were up 6-5 before going unfinished as well.

In singles play the Highlanders began to cruise with no issue. Severin was the first to finish for Radford as he made quick work on court four winning 6-1, 6-3. Balsekar was next to finish to make it a 3-0 lead as he won 6-2, 6-1 on court two. Taramonlis capped off his senior day with the clinching victory on the top flight 6-3, 6-0.

Raptis wasn't far behind and was close to clinching his battle on court three 6-3, 5-3 before going unfinished. Courteau and Hagen were also both up a set in their battles on courts five and six before going unfinished as well.

The Highlanders return to conference play and stick to the home courts later this week for a pivotal Big South match against preseason-favorites Presbyterian this Friday, March 31st at 3:00 p.m.
