LEXINGTON, Va. – The Highlanders fall, 1-0, as VMI secure the game winner in the dying minutes on Tuesday night.
The first half of the game was a physical one as the Highlanders ended the first 45 minutes in a 0-0 tie against VMI. The Highlanders were able to get off six shots, with some creating great opportunities to take a lead early in the half, but none were able to find the back of net.
Bryceland Peacock and the Highlander defense continued their impressive form as they made numerous crucial blocks, with Peacock collecting four saves.
The final 45 minutes delivered physical and chippy competition to the very end. Once again, the Highlanders had a couple of opportunities to take an early lead in the half and even stayed aggressive on the attack throughout the half that would land them in double digit shot attempts but couldn't capitalize on the opportunities. The Highlanders once more played a smothering defense until the 86th minute as VMI's Kyle Grant was able to capitalize on a mistake in the back that would give VMI the win over the Highlanders.

The Highlanders are on the road as they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to face Queens on Wednesday, Sept. 27. That match is slated for a 7 p.m. start and will be streamed on ESPN+.
