Ryan Palmbaum Named Assistant Coach of Radford Men’s Soccer Program

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's soccer program and head coach Andy Cormack announced Monday afternoon that Ryan Palmbaum has joined the men's soccer program as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026 season.

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join such a dedicated staff and program," commented Palmbaum. "What Coach Cormack, myself, our players, the athletic department, and the community are building here at Radford aligns with me to my core, and I could not be more ready to show everybody who we are and what we can do."

"I am thrilled to welcome Ryan to our program and the Radford community," added Cormack. "He has built a strong reputation for his commitment to player development, attention to detail, and ability to build meaningful relationships with his student-athletes. He brings tremendous energy and a growth mindset that aligns perfectly with our culture and vision. Beyond the field, Ryan is someone who will invest in our campus and local community, building authentic connections and representing our program with pride. We are excited about the leadership and perspective he brings as we continue to move our program forward."

Palmbaum is a world-traveled, highly successful collegiate soccer coach with playing and coaching experience across many levels, including NCAA D1, NCAA D2, NAIA, and professional. His previous coaching stop was at Kansas Wesleyan University, where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons overseeing the main recruitment efforts and recruiting 99 players over two years. For the 2025 season, Palmbaum moved into the Head Coaching position at Kansas Wesleyan University, guiding them to a 13-4-3 season.

Palmbaum's has played across both Europe and South America for teams such as the Boca Juniors Academy from Argentina from 2011-2014 and going to Greece to play for Kallithea FC for his first professional contract in 2016. Following that was two stops in Spain, first with CE Sabadell, then CF Badalona, before coming back to the United States to play on the collegiate scene. Palmbaum attended Northern Michigan University from August 2019 through December 2021, where he quickly established himself as a leader, earning team captain honors as a freshman. Palmbaum earned the 2019 GLIAC Freshman of the Year award while adding 3x All-GLIAC Honors and 2x All-Region Honors in his time there. Palmbaum then transferred to the University at Albany and played there from January 2022 through May 2023.

Before stepping into coaching, Palmbaum's commitment to empowering students was already taking shape. In 2023, he founded Dabbl Discovery, an educational technology company designed to help high school and early college students identify their academic and professional paths through an algorithm-driven, short-form video platform. His impact extends well beyond the field, championing academic excellence in the classroom, servant leadership in the community, and a winning culture within his programs.

While coaching at Kansas Wesleyan University, Palmbaum's student-athletes excelled in the classroom. Forty-one athletes earned a GPA above 3.0, and the program posted an impressive 3.61 varsity team GPA. In addition, six players garnered KACA All-Conference honors, including a Goalkeeper of the Year selection, while four earned Academic All-Region recognition.
