LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Highlanders kicked off the new year at Liberty's 4th annual Brant Tolsma Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Starting Friday afternoon,
Raichelle Cornelius ran 25.53 in the 200 dash, setting a new personal record.
On Saturday, Cornelius also finished ninth place in the 400 dash with another personal best. Freshman,
Katja Kehlenbeck, beat her previous PR for high jump and landed a top-10 finish.
Kandace McIvor had the most consistent weekend across the board with new season bests in long jump, hurdles and 400m. She also spearheaded Radford's group in the 4x400 relays.
Radford dominated in the mile with three highlanders coming in top 10 finishes.
Sophie Magson came in second, while
Chloe Wellings landed third place and fourth overall in Radford's record book. On their heels,
Abby Seigel finished in sixth place at 5:04.79, recording a personal best and securing a spot in the record book as well.
MegAnne Gilmore obtained a personal record and beat her previous first place record in the 1000m. She finished in second place with
Kate McLearen right behind to come in third earning outstanding achievements as well. McLearen's new personal best of 3:00.06 earns her the second place spot in the record book.
The Highlanders capped off a successful day with the 4x4 relays. The team consisted of Cornelius, McIvor,
Jordan Jackson and
Jaslyne Robinson. This is a huge season best and earned the group a sixth place finish.

The Highlanders head to Lexington, Va. for the VMI Invitational which will take place Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27.
