ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Radford women's soccer program got off to a strong start and dominated most of the match Saturday night at Winthrop before a goal in the closing minutes by the Eagles forced a 1-1 tie.
KEY STATS
PLAY BY PLAY
The dominance of possession began early for the Highlanders in the match as Radford got off three shots and a corner in the first five minutes. That offensive onslaught would continue until the 38th minute when Krach was able to break through with a goal assisted by Jillian Silverstone.
Radford would hold that 1-0 edge into halftime and for a majority of the second half. The Highlanders remained in control as Winthrop was held to just four shots through 80 minutes of the game.
In the 86th minute, however, Winthrop was able to find an equalizer that would prove pivotal in the closing minutes of the match. Radford would get a few more opportunities on goal before the match ended, but none found the net as the Highlanders settled for the 1-1 tie on the road.
HEAD COACH SOHRABI QUOTABLE
"Late in the game we have to finish the game strong defensively and keep the shutout. We had our chances to put this game away many times and our finishing was poor." – Ben Sohrabi.
