Women’s Basketball’s Blanked Against Eastern Kentucky

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's basketball program fell in a tough final Saturday afternoon to Eastern Kentucky 40-87.

KEY STATS
  • Taylor Napper (nine points) and Adriana Shipp-Davis (seven points) led the offensive efforts.
  • Laila Acox set season highs for points (six) and rebounds (six).
  • Radford shot just 11-51 from the field today, their lowest shooting performance of the season.

PLAY BY PLAY
Radford's offense was able to match Eastern Kentucky's fast pace early on in Saturday's contest, but the shots continued falling for the Colonels while the Highlanders offense went cold leading to the lopsided final. Napper had a big start to the game, scoring seven points early thanks in part to her first three-pointer of the season.

An extended run in the second quarter allowed the Colonels to pull away. Radford trailed 21-14 after the first quarter, but things fully slipped away in the next ten minutes as Eastern Kentucky went up 43-22.

In the second half, Acox was able to sub in and put up some numbers for the Highlanders with all her points and rebounds coming in the back 20. Kirby Brown was also able to come in for a pair of points and rebounds. Overall in the game, nine different Highlanders would get in the scoring column. When all was said and done, it was Eastern Kentucky who pulled out the 87-40 final.
