SERIES HISTORY
Monday's meeting will mark the fifth all-time match-up between the two programs, but the first in this century. Duke owns a 4-0 edge in the series narrowly defeating the Highlanders 59-58 in their last meeting inside the Dedmon Center during the 1992-93 campaign. Radford last visited Duke during the 1989-90 season and fell just short in another tight contest 62-58.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
The 11th-ranked Blue Devils come into the 2024-25 season with high aspirations for ACC play and beyond after advancing to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 last season. Head Coach Kaya Lawson is in her fifth season leading Duke who was picked to finish third in the ACC preseason poll.

Duke returns their top scorer from 2023-24 in guard Reigan Richardson who averaged 12.4 ppg starting and playing in all 34 games. One of Duke's top freshmen last season, Oluchi Okananwa, also returns after an impressive average of 9.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg. Guard Taina Mair, who led the Blue Devils in assists last season with 123, also returns to the squad.

MCGUIRE ENTERS YEAR 12
Head Coach Mike McGuire is entering his twelfth season at the helm of the program, the longest tenured active coach in the Big South. McGuire is looking to build on current milestones in his coaching career. His .533 winning percentage currently ranks third-best in program history and his 178 overall wins currently rank second-most as well, only trailing Radford Hall of Famer Pat Barrett who had 193 wins. McGuire's 123 Big South wins, 178 overall wins and 10 tournament game victories are all most among active conference coaches.

EDUCATION DAY OPENERS
Tomorrow's season opener features an exciting education day match-up with an 11 a.m. tip as local students from the surrounding Durham community make the trip to Cameron Indoor. Just a few days later, Radford will also host its own education day inviting students from the surrounding New River Valley to watch the team take on Hampton for a similar 11 a.m. tip. The unique back-to-back education days marks the first time the Radford women's basketball program has played consecutive games with a pre-noon tip.
