Women’s Basketball Cruises Over Bluefield to Close out Nonconference

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's basketball program saw a complete team effort in a dominant 102-58 victory over Bluefield Sunday afternoon.
 
KEY STATS
  • Taylor Napper paced Radford offensively and defensively filling up the box score with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks.
  • Radford turned the ball over just six times, a season low.
  • Radford shot 53% on 76 attempts, marking their second straight game shooting over 50%.
  • Kirah Dandridge led Radford in rebounds (8) and assists (4).
  • Radford's 10 three-pointers today was one off of their season high and two off from the program single game record.
 
PLAY BY PLAY
The Highlanders offense cruised from the start as three different Highlanders accounted for the team's first three makes to take an early lead. A three from Carlson ignited the offense followed by Napper and Firebaugh pacing the offense ahead 10-2.
 
Two more three pointers from Carlson and Firebaugh kept Radford firing. Kirby Brown also subbed in for a quick six points to close out the opening quarter as Radford quickly earned a 30-18 advantage. The Highlanders opened the second quarter with 10 straight points as Reniya Jones checked in for five points.
 
Another Carlson three extended Radford's lead to 44-20. Free throws made up Radford's offense to close out the half as the team drew fouls off the Rams. Adelyn Traylor-Walker provided four makes from the free throw line in the second quarter to help solidify a 51-24 lead at the break.
 
Napper got back to work leading the offense in the third quarter with two straight makes as Radford opened on an 8-0 run to lead 59-24. Three pointers by Williams and Dandridge kept the offense clicking as Angelina Nice checked in for a pair of steals and seven points late to make it an 82-37 lead before the fourth quarter.
 
Ava Sawi sunk a pair of buckets to celebrate her birthday in the fourth quarter. While the offense slowed down a tad, Adriana Shipp-Davis was the one who lifted Radford past the 100-point mark with a three. When all was said and done, Radford defended the home court once again in the 102-58 finish.

 
AROUND THE BIG SOUTH
  • Longwood's offense remained hot in a strong 84-68 victory at UNC Wilmington
  • Winthrop fell to a tough ranked Tennessee squad in a 112-50 finish.
 
UP NEXT
The Highlanders return to Dedmon for their third straight home contest to open Big South play. Radford and High Point kick off the conference portion of the season with a 7 p.m. tip on January 2nd on ESPN+.
