LYNCHBURG/ROANOKE, Va. – Across two meets, the Radford women's track and field program completed competition this weekend with plenty of strong results to build off of going into future events. The Highlanders rewrote Radford's record book with
Chloe Wellings taking over the 3000m top spot and running the second fastest time in Big South history.
Wellings ran a time of 9:32.06 to earn a new personal best, earning her the 2024 season best in the Big South thus far.
MegAnne Gilmore also found herself with a new PR of 9:47.14 and now holds the fourth spot in Radford's 3000m Record Book.
Sophie Magson beats her current time in the record book to secure the fifth spot. To round off the Highlanders 3000m success,
Kate McLearen runs a personal best (10:12.20) to assure eighth place in the books.
Abby Seigel came in sixth place in the 5000m with a time of 17:38.69 to earn a new personal best and take the fourth spot in Radford's record book. Also earning a personal best is
Reagan Patterson in the 800m. While freshman,
Kayla Fields made the top-20 for her 800m collegiate debut.
On Saturday, the team exceled in the mile with Gilmore taking the second place spot in Radford's history book at 4:54.52, a new personal best. A few seconds behind, Wellings takes over the fourth spot in the record book with a time of 4:55.44, also a new personal best. Magson beat her current PR and holds the fifth spot in the record.
At the Joe LaRocco Invitational in Roanoke,
Dezmajia Carter also found herself making a record book appearance. She sets a personal record of 5.56m in the long jump, earning fourth place in the record book and first place in this event. Right behind,
Elyssia Fisher comes in second in the long jump at 5.53m for a season best. To finish off this event,
Katja Kehlenbeck finishes in sixth place at 5.10m. Carter also earned a season best in the triple jump with 10.85m to obtain third place.
In the 60m, Fisher snagged third place (9.87) in the semis, while
Sela Beatty snatched ninth place at 8.12.
Kandace McIvor notched a season best of 9.32 to land in fifth place in the 60m hurdles.
Johniece Jones came in the top-10, respectively.
Freshman, Kehlenbeck, clinched third place in the high jump for a personal best of 1.55m, with Johniece coming in sixth at 1.45m, tying her personal best.
Another Highlander earned a personal best with
Mya Rosser's 13.85m in weight throwing, landing her in fifth place.
Jaylen Rosser came in the top-15 with 12.63m. To conclude the weekend, Jaylen earned a 16 place finish in shot put. Mya just a few spots behind, came in the top-25 out of 53 competitors.

Radford stays close to home Friday and Saturday (February 16-17) as they head to Virginia Tech's Invitational to wrap up their regular indoor season.
