RADFORD, Va – Lindenwood used a strong first quarter that left Radford in a hole too much to dig out of resulting in a 18-5 loss Wednesday afternoon.
Maddie Abbott and
Mady Cheney led the Highlanders with two goals apiece.
Despite strong defensive plays, Lindenwood found themselves on an 8-0 run in the first quarter. However, Abbott was not ready to give up as she gave the team a boost putting up Radford's first goal. Cheney followed up just 22 seconds later taking advantage of Radford's man-up opportunity with an assist from
Molly O'Brien.
Margaret Gleason then followed up for the Highlanders trying to shorten the gap putting the game at 9-3 going into the second quarter.
In the second half, the Highlanders were unable to catch up despite efforts from Abbott and Cheney, both of whom scored their second goals. The defense fought hard totaling 11 ground balls from Gleason (2),
Emily Strother (2),
Piper Galbraith (2) and
Cameron Counts (2), who led the efforts.
