CINCINNATI, Ohio – Radford women's lacrosse fell to Xavier 17-10 on the road Saturday.
Ashlyn Grogan had an outstanding performance earning her first points of the season with a hat trick.
Multiple Highlanders earned their first goals of the season in addition to Grogan. Xavier hit the ground running taking the lead 4-0 at the start of the first quarter. However,
Molly O'Brien's shot found the back of the net to put Radford on the board. The first quarter ended 7-3 with efforts from O'Brien, Grogan and
Laura Ferko, all first-time scorers of the 2024 season.
Mady Cheney kicked off the second quarter with a goal. Cheney recorded two goals and three ground balls overall in the game while battling the Musketeers. Grogan and Ferko also earned their second goals in the second quarter. Grogan continued to work in the third quarter as she completed her hat trick. Freshman
Hannah Hanger took advantage of the man-up opportunity in the third quarter to put herself in the scoring column for the Highlanders.
The last two goals of the game came from the Highlanders.
Kaitlyn Lytton earned her first goal of the season with the assist from
Piper Galbraith, followed by an unassisted Cheney goal to close out the game.
