MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Shooting -13 as a team over three rounds, the Radford men's golf team finished 2nd at the Surf Club Invitational on Tuesday.
ROUND 1
For the first round of the invitational the Highlanders would get off to a good start as the team would shoot on par. Leading the pack for the Highlanders was Patrick Gareiss as he would go four under par. Gareiss would birdie on the 1st, 5th, 8th, and 16th holes and earn an eagle in the 17th hole. However, he would record two bogeys at the 12th and 15th holes to leave him shooting a 67 (-4) before heading to round 2.
ROUND 2
In the second the Highlanders would keep up the momentum as they would finish the round in impressive fashion finding themselves in second place in the invitational shooting eight under par as a team. The efforts for this round were led by Bryce Corbett and Bobby Dudeck. Corbett would go on to record four birdies, an eagle and two bogeys shooting a 67 (-4). Dudeck would record four birdies in the round to help add to the efforts for Radford but would record a bogey at the 13th hole that would see Dudeck recording 68 (-3) and Gareiss would finish the evening at 70 (-1) leaving him five under par before heading to the final day of the invitational.
ROUND 3
For the final round the Highlanders would finish out the invitational in 2nd place as Jack Urban was the leading man that would keep Radford under par and prevent Appalachian State from overtaking the second-place position from the Highlanders. Urban would go on to record Birdies in the 5th, 7th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 17th holes shooting 66 (-5) and T23 alongside three other Highlanders Patrick Gareiss, Bobby Dudeck and Nicholas Taliaferro who all finished on par at the conclusion of the tournament. Bryce Corbett had the highest finish at T13 to end his outing on the course at two under par . Radford would also record the most eagles out of all 18 teams that participated at the invitational.
