ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Radford women's track and field program competed in the Asheville Bulldog Invitational Saturday.
Jaslyne Robinson came in first with a time of 1:03.86 in the 400m hurdles. Another top finish came from
Kate McLearen earned a personal best in the 800m (2:18.66) to come in second place.
Also in the 800m dash, Fields came in fifth place with a time at 2:24.03. Lafon finished top-10, while Preston made her 800m dash debut to set a personal record. In the 1500m,
Kayla Fields ran her way to fifth place with a time of 4:58.33. Not far behind,
MegAnne Gilmore came in seventh running 5:00.37. Freshman
Mia Farley was right behind in eighth for a pr of 5:03.69.
Katelyn Lafon and
Natalie Preston both had top-15 finishes.
Kandace McIvor had a successful day with top-10 finishes in the 100m hurdles and long jump and a spot in the top-15 in the high jump. She achieved a personal record of 5.41m (17' 9") in the long jump. Also in the long jump,
Elyssia Fisher came in seventh place with a distance of 5.58m (18' 3.75").
Katja Kehlenbeck and
Johniece Jones both earned outdoor personal records in the long jump. Kehlenbeck came in fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.55m (5'1"), tying her career best. Jones found herself in a four way tie for seventh, tying her outdoor best at 1.45m (4'9").
Dezmajia Carter fought her way to fourth in the triple jump for a total distance of 11.13m (36' 6.25").
Additionally, Robinson came in eighth at 15.18 in the 100m hurdles.
Sela Beatty made her mark to earn the ninth spot in Radford's record book with a time of 12.43 in the 100m dash, for a fifth place finish.
Radford's 4x100 relay team consisted of
Raichelle Cornelius, Beatty, McIvor and Carter to come in fifth place. In the 400m dash, Cornelius earned a third place finish at 58.58.
Jordan Jackson placed sixth.
In the field,
Jaylen Rosser earned a personal best in both hammer throw and discus throw. In the hammer throw, Jaylen threw a distance of 37.56m (123'3") and came in the top-10.
Mya Rosser placed sixth in shot put at 10.68m (35' 0.5").
