Radford Rewrites Outdoor Record Book at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Highlanders competed in the Colonial Relays at William & Mary Friday with multiple personal bests and six new record book marks.
 
Sophie Magson made her 3000m steeplechase debut with a bang. She placed in second with a time of 10:47.20, also earning second place in Radford's outdoor record book. On her heels, Kate McLearen came in fourth place at 10:50.46, earning a new personal record and the third spot in the program's record book.
 
Jaslyne Robinson also earned a personal best competing in the 400m hurdles, putting her fourth in Radford's record book with a time of 1:03.66.
 
Rachelle Cornelius secured the fourth spot in the record book for the 400m dash with her outdoor personal best of 57.27. This earned her a top-10 finish during the competition. Jordan Jackson also earned an outdoor personal record in the 400m dash.
 
Jaylen Rosser and Mya Rosser both earned personal bests in the hammer throws. Jaylen's distance of 36.76m earned her a top-10 finish. Mya's 35.42m put her not far behind in twelfth place.
 
In the long jump, Kandance McIvor and Elyssia Fisher advanced to the finals. McIvor earned an outdoor PR of 5.20m with a fourth-place finish. Fisher also earned a personal best of 5.35m to finish in sixth place.
 
MegAnne Gilmore finished the 1500m with a time of 4:36.11, to come in seventh. Freshman Kayla Fields also earned a new personal record in the 1500m. 

Abby Seigel earned an outdoor personal best in the 5000m. Her time of 17:54.49 earns Seigel a spot in Radford's record book.
 
Mackenzie Brownrigg made her Radford 10000m debut and made her mark earning the fifth spot in the record book. She came in seventh racing in tonight's meet with a time of 36:54.83.

"We are really just getting started and proud of how we performed today.  Anytime you run a season best, PR or make the all time list you can feel good about your progress as an individual and as a team."

UP NEXT
Radford Women's Track & Field now prepares for the Duke Invitational on Friday, April 12. The team will also attend UNC Asheville's Invitational on Saturday, April 13.
