Women’s Soccer Celebrates Senior Day Against Wofford

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer program fell to Wofford 1-0 on Sunday afternoon but celebrated senior day prior to the match honoring seven seniors and one super senior for their dedication to the program.

KEY STATS
  • Radford outshot Wofford 15-10, but only six of their 15 shots came on goal.
  • Jordan Phillips had a strong day in the net, recording four saves on Wofford's five shots on goal.
  • Eileen Albers led the shooting efforts getting off four shots in the contest.
  • The Highlanders drew a season-high 11 corners.

PLAY BY PLAY
Prior to the match, Radford honored eight total Highlanders including Jadyn Noel, Helena Willson, Audrey Cowden, Kayla Edwards, Jordan Phillips, June Stevens, Emily Pendleton and Marley Krach.

Sunday's match got off to a rough start for the Highlanders as an unfortunate bounce within the first 20 minutes set up Wofford for an open look. The Terriers sealed that opportunity for the 1-0 advantage, the eventual only goal that would be scored in the match.

The Highlanders were held scoreless for just the second time this season, but it wasn't without trying. Radford got multiple strong looks, but chances fell through due to a strong defensive effort by Wofford. The loss is the first at home for the Highlanders since the 2022 season.

HEAD COACH SOHRABI QUOTABLE
"All credit to Wofford, they came out with a great game plan, it frustrated us. It's disappointing for our seniors to lose on senior day but it doesn't change the impact and success they've had at Radford while they've been here. We created enough chances to win today, we just need to finish better." – Ben Sohrabi.
