CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Katie Purnell has been named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week after her game-winning goal on the road against UNC Asheville last week.
Purnell came off the bench and played a pivotal role in Radford's 1-0 victory over UNC Asheville last week. Playing in her hometown of Asheville, N.C., Purnell scored the first game-winner of her career and first goal of the season late to help seal the victory. The goal helped seal the Highlanders' fourth straight conference victory.
The weekly award is the third for the Highlanders this season, as Purnell joins fellow Highlander freshmen Ryane Devlin and Abby Walsh who earned weekly awards earlier this season. The weekly award is the first in Purnell's Radford career.
Radford will look to keep things rolling when they return to Cupp Stadium this Wednesday, October 15th, against High Point. The Highlanders and Panthers will face off for a 7 p.m. start on ESPN+.
