Home Sweet Home: The Highlanders are happy to be home after a tough start to the season. Following a close loss to Wake Forest on Monday, Radford fell 82-36 to Georgia Tech on Thursday morning in Atlanta. Radford has won each of their last three home openers, which includes a 68-39 win against Emory & Henry on November 10, 2022.

Buzz Off: Emory & Henry begins their season against Radford. They went 7-23 (2-22 SAC) a season ago and are led by Head Coach Jaclyn Dickens. This is the 14th meeting between the two programs, with Radford entering the day a perfect 13-0 (including exhibition games). The Wasps were picked to finish 11th in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Conference. Their 6'1" forward, Breanna Yarber, was named Preseason All-SAC First Team.

McGuire Milestone Watch: With a win, Head Coach Mike McGuire will tie Radford Hall of Famer and first women's basketball coach Pat Barrett (1971-84) with 193 career victories. McGuire begins his 13th season leading the program and is the longest tenured active coach in the Big South. He's looking for his 101st win at the Dedmon Center and his fifth triumph against Emory & Henry.

Defense Comes First: Despite the defeat, the Highlanders held Georgia Tech to a 24% shooting percentage (6-25) in the first half. It was the first time the Yellow Jackets had been held to an under 30% shooting percentage in a half since playing Duke on January 26, 2025.

Simonsen Says: Freshman Georgia Simonsen made a big impact for the Highlanders in her first collegiate game on Monday at Wake Forest, leading the team with nine rebounds and tying for the team lead with 11 points. Simonsen is the first freshman to reach double digits in scoring in the opening game since Joi Williams scored 14 and Terissa Lavoile-Brice added 10 vs. Concord on Nov. 6, 2023.

Welcome Back, Ellie: Grad student Ellie Taylor made her return for the Highlanders after missing the 2024-25 season due to an injury suffered in the 2023-24 season finale in the Big South Tournament. Taylor totaled 11 points which included some points in the paint and a three-pointer.
