KEY STORYLINES
Last Time Out: Radford's bid for a perfect record at home in non-conference play came to an end with a 72-67 loss to Ohio on Saturday afternoon. Leading by as many as nine (21-12) in the second quarter, the Bobcats came storming back to take control at half. The Highlanders managed to take a slim lead in the fourth quarter before Ohio built another double-digit lead. Some late threes by Joi Williams, Cate Carlson, and Angelina Nice nearly gave Radford an insane comeback win, but the Highlanders' late rally came up short. Williams led the squad in scoring with 18 points, with Carlson contributing 11 points. The crucial point was the Highlanders' struggles from the free throw line, converting at under 50 percent (12-26) in the game.

In the Details: With Saturday's loss, the Highlanders fall to 2-3 in games decided by 10 points or less…1-5 when trailing at half…3-6 when shooting under 40%...3-5 when opponent wins rebounding battle…4-3 when making more three-pointers…4-6 when scoring 70 points or less…1-4 when allowing 70+ points…5-1 at the Dedmon Center.

What a Joi: After a breakout 36-point performance in the double overtime win against Navy, Williams notched another game with double figures with 18 points against Ohio. After a slow start to the campaign, the junior is averaging 11.3 points per contest. With four three-pointers on Saturday, Williams ranks seventh on the all-time three-point field goals list with 120.

Everyone Plays: The Highlanders have used seven different starting lineups in 12 games on Saturday. Radford's leading scorer has come off the bench in nine games. Ten players are averaging over 10 minutes of action per game, and all 14 players have logged in at least a few minutes this season. Williams is the only player averaging over double digits per contest (11.7), while Georgia Simonsen is the only player averaging over five rebounds per game (5.4). Ava Sawi had a quick six points to set a new career high, scoring on some early drives to the basket against the Bobcats.

Chase to 200: Head Coach Mike McGuire added win No. 198 in his career last week. He is trying to become the first coach in Radford basketball history and the sixth in Big South women's basketball history to reach 200 career wins. He became the winningest coach in program history with his 194th win on November 11 in a 59-50 triumph over Loyola Maryland.

Scouting Concord: The Mountain Lions (6-3) are off to a hot start. Competing in NCAA Division II in the Mountain East Conference, Concord has rattled off three straight conference wins leading into today's game. They try and get to the free throw line often, averaging 22.9 free throw attempts per game (making on average 16.7 of those). Senior forward Abbie Smith leads the Mountain Lions in scoring with 18.1 points per game, shooting at a 56.9 percent clip. Also averaging double figures are Kenyah Stubbs (15.3 PPG) and Olivia Ziolkowski (10.3 PPG). Each of their starter's average over 24 minutes per game. The Highlanders are 9-0 against the Mountain Lions. Radford was victorious in their last matchup on November 6, 2023, 77-53.
