Parker Jr.’s Record-Breaking Showing Earns First Big South Player of the Week Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Dennis Parker Jr. has been named the conference's Player of the Week after he broke the program and conference record for points in a single game in Radford's dominant win over Coppin State this past weekend.

Parker Jr. almost did it all himself for Radford's win in their lone game this past week, breaking Radford's and the Big South's single game scoring record with 53 points. The mark beats the previous Radford high of 43 and Big South high of 51. It is the most points scored by a Division I player so far this season and the most by any Division I player in a single game since December 13, 2019. The performance came off an incredible 19-for-24 showing from the floor, the most field goals ever made in a single game by a Highlander. Parker Jr. finished the game with 10 three pointers, one shy of another Radford program record, leading a second half charge with 35 of his 53 points coming in the back half of the game.

The weekly award is the first for the Highlanders this season, and the first in Parker Jr.'s career. The Player of the Week nod is also the first for Radford since DaQuan Smith earned the award at the tail end of the 2023-24 season.

Radford is currently preparing for their next nonconference battle as they make the in-state trip to William & Mary this Thursday, December 18th. Action tips off at the Kaplan Arena at 7:00 p.m., streaming on FloSports.
