
Baseball starts winning streak with another win against Mercyhurst

RADFORD, Va. – Buy some stock now in the Radford baseball program as the Highlanders picked up their second straight win with a 9-1 decision over visiting Mercyhurst in a non-conference clash inside Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

THE BREAKDOWN
- Breckin Nace cannot be stopped at the moment as he posted a 3-for-5 afternoon that included two RBI and a game-best three runs scored. His three runs also tied a career-best in the category. Over his first four games of 2025, Nace is hitting .412, a mark that ranks within the top 10 of the Big South Conference. He also blasted his first home run of the season in the contest.
- Brady Whitacre also had a big outing with a 2-for-5 game that included his own home run, two RBI and a run. It too was Whitacre's first blast of the campaign.
- Noah Toole chipped in a 3-for-5 effort with one RBI and a run scored.
- Jhonkeanu Perez drove in Radford's other RBI in the win.
- Hunter Keen too made his impact felt off a 2-for-3 outing that featured two runs scored. He also drew a base on balls.
- James Ward (1-for-3) and Eli Hudgins came around to score a single time for the Highlanders.
- Joshua Milleville picked up his first victory of the season on the mound with three standouts innings in relief. He allowed just two hits to go against five strikeouts.
- Jack McDonald (three strikeouts), Clay Clatterbaugh (one punch out) and Nace all fired a scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

- The Highlanders stuck first once again with three runs in the bottom of the second to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
- Mercyhurst tried to battle back with a run of its own in the top of the third, but it was all Highlanders from that point on.
- Radford dropped three more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the seventh to seal the 9-1 victory.
