Late Rally Not Enough as Lacrosse Falls to Longwood

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse team rallied late but would come up short in their contest against Longwood Wednesday afternoon, falling in the 13-17 final.

Molly O'Brien got the Highlanders day started in the score column as her goal just one minute in put Radford ahead 1-0. Longwood would score three unanswered as Radford looked for offensive answers. Cheney ended the scoring run, and a pair of goals by Driscoll tied the game back up at 4-4 early in the second quarter.
The Lancers rattled off another 4-0 run, but two more goals by Driscoll kept the Highlanders close as the first half came to a close 10-6 in the Lancers favor. Cheney would look to spark the offense with an early goal in the third quarter with goals from Evie Gee and McKenzie Hines scored a pair of goals.
Down 13-9 entering the fourth quarter, Radford's offense got a score from Riley Dundee with seven minutes to go that made it a 14-10 match. The Highlanders would go on a 3-0 scoring run late fueled by goals from Hannah Hanger, Gee and Cheney, but the Lancers would hold on in the 17-13.

Radford returns to action this upcoming weekend with a visit to Wofford on Saturday, April 12th. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. streaming on ESPN+.
