RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer program played even through the opening half before ultimately falling after a rough second half to Campbell 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
KEY STATS
PLAY BY PLAY
Just 12 minutes into the match, Campbell would strike first to put Radford down early. While the Highlander offense got some good looks early, their first shot wouldn't come until the 14-minute mark.
Not long after, Radford was able to capitalize. After Ava Kertgate struck a shot saved by the opposing keeper, the ricochet bounced towards Short who secured the goal to tie the game back at 1-1. The goal was the first the Campbell defense had allowed this season in over 200 minutes of play.
The Highlanders' defense stood strong through the remaining 25 minutes of the first half to keep things even at the break. In the 58th minute, Campbell struck to retake the lead and didn't wait long to add another goal in the 62nd minute. Down 3-1, the Highlanders couldn't mount a second comeback over the final minutes of the game
SOHRABI QUOTABLE
"We played well in the beginning of the game, and they scored against the run of play in their first real opportunity," commented head coach Ben Sohrabi. "I was proud of the girls for bouncing back to tie it, but the second half got away from us. Campbell stepped up, wanted it more and were more fit."

Radford goes on the road for their next battle as they head to the state capital on Thursday, August 28th to take on Richmond. Action will kick off at 5 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+.
