Akimoto Tabbed Big South Co-Offensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Kenshin Akimoto has been named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week after two goals helped Radford earned a decisive victory over Longwood in the conference opener.

In the Highlanders lone game last week, Akimoto played a big role in the team's most dominant conference victory since 2022. Up 1-0, Akimoto added Radford's second and third goals of the game to fully pull away from Longwood. Akimoto's brace is the first of his Radford career, and first by a Highlander since October 12th, 2024.

The weekly award is the second for the Highlanders this season, and their first season with multiple players of the week since 2021. Akimoto joins teammate Hiromasa Iwai who also earned offensive player of the week honors earlier this season.

Radford is preparing for a bout of nonconference action before returning to their Big South slate. Radford will visit VMI on Wednesday, September 24th for a 4 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.
