KEY STORYLINES
Last Time Out: Radford dropped a tough loss to Big South power High Point on Saturday in North Carolina. Within striking distance at halftime, the Panthers scored 36 points in the third quarter to put the game away and coast to a 78-40 win.

In the Details: The loss on Saturday drops the Highlanders to 1-2 in Big South play…2-6 on the road…5-3 coming off a loss…3-4 in games decided by 30+ points…1-7 when trailing at half…3-9 when shooting less than 40 percent…3-8 when being outrebounded…1-7 when scoring less than 60 points…1-6 when allowing more than 70 points.

A Look Back: Radford looks to keep their win streak alive against the Runnin' Bulldogs after getting three wins against Gardner-Webb last season. They last met in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament, with Radford getting a 69-63 win back on March 6, 2025. The Highlanders control the all-time series 23-16, which dates back to the 2003 season.

Georgia on my Mind: Georgia Simonsen continued her string of reaching double figures (now at 5) with a team-best 11 points in the loss at High Point. She's the first freshman since Ashlyn Traylor-Walker in 2022 to have double figures in five-straight games. The Fairfax, Va. native is now averaging nine points a game with 6.1 rebounds per game. Counting only Big South games, Simonsen ranks third in field goal percentage (56.7%), 10th in scoring (13.7 ppg), and 14th in rebounding (6.3 rpg).

McGuire Milestones: Head Coach Mike McGuire became the first Radford basketball coach and the sixth Big South women's basketball coach to reach 200 career wins after the victory at Hampton on December 18, joining Carey Green (440 at Liberty, 1999-2018), Rick Reeves (290 at Liberty [1991-1999] and Gardner-Webb [2008-2018]), Ronny Fisher (232 at Presbyterian [2008-2016] and Campbell [2016-2023]), Wanda Watkins (230 at Campbell 1986-1994 and 2011-2016), and Alan LeForce (228 at Coastal Carolina 1997-2013). He is the fourth coach to get 200 wins at the same institution in the Big South and currently the only active coach in the Big South with 200 wins.

Scouting Gardner-Webb: The Runnin' Bulldogs have gotten off to a nice start in conference play with a pair of wins early. They rallied from down 17 points against USC Upstate on Saturday to steal a 64-61 win in Boiling Springs in their last contest. Gardner-Webb is led by a pair of junior guards, Amina Gray and Anaya Harris. Gray is averaging 12.6 points per game and has reached double figures in each of her last eight games. Harris, who was the 2023-24 Big South Freshman of the Year, scored the go-ahead bucket against the Spartans in the closing seconds on Saturday and averages 11.5 per contest. The duo have shined from the free throw line, combining to go 48-53 (90.6%) so far this season.
