KEY STORYLINES
Last Time Out: The Highlanders dealt High Point their first Big South loss in a 72-57 triumph over the Panthers on Senior Day in the Dedmon Center on Saturday. Down 4-0 early, Radford answered and went on an 11-0 run before pulling away with a 21-point advantage at halftime. Radford managed to hold off High Point to ease into a double-digit victory. Georgia Simonsen led Radford with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. The defense held High Point to shoot just 24 percent from three-point range and 35.6 percent overall and junior star Macy Spencer to just seven points.

In the Details: Saturday's win moved the Highlanders to 8-3 in Big South play…7-3 when coming off a loss…6-1 in games decided by 11-20 points…14-2 when leading at half…10-0 when shooting better than 40 percent…13-1 when outshooting opponent…12-4 when opponent shoots under 40 percent…11-0 when outrebounding the opponent…4-8 when opponent has more free throw attempts…10-5 when making more three-pointers…11-2 when winning points in the paint…7-1 when scoring 70+ points.

A Look Back: Wednesday will be the 92nd meeting all-time. The two programs first met in 1986. The Highlanders control the series 63-28. Radford has won five straight against UNC Asheville, with the Bulldogs' last win coming on February 15, 2023. Radford is 18-11 against the Bulldogs in the Mike McGuire era and held them off 64-52 on January 23 in the Dedmon Center. They took the last meeting in Asheville, 63-39, on February 19, 2025.

Rising and Defending: The 57 points for High Point on Saturday was tied for their lowest total this season…they also had the second-lowest shooting percentage (35.6). Only the loss at Houston on November 23 was a worse offensive game for the Panthers (L 67-57 and shot 30.5 percent). Ellie Taylor and company held the Big South's leading scorer, Macy Spencer, to just seven points (after the junior scored 38 against Winthrop on Wednesday). The defeat was High Point's first conference loss in over a calendar year – ironically, Radford also gave them that loss on February 5, 2025 in the Qubein Center.

Piling Up the Honors: Simonsen scored her sixth Big South Freshman of the Week award on Monday after several outstanding performances. The Fairfax, Va. native had a dynamite first half on February 4 at Longwood, scoring 14 points before finishing with 17 on 7-of-10 shooting. Simonsen had an even more spectacular game against High Point, totaling a career-high of 19 points while making multiple three-pointers for the first time. Her seven rebounds on Saturday led the Highlanders and were instrumental in helping Radford pull off the upset on Senior Day.

Making it Rain: The Highlanders were on fire from the floor in the first half, shooting an amazing 17-25 (68 percent) from the field and an even better 6-8 (75 percent) from three. Anaiah Jenkins (3-3) and Simonsen (2-2), not known to be three-point takers as forwards, were perfect in the game (both were career highs). Eight Radford players found the scorebook. The 54.5 overall shooting percentage was Radford's highest this season. The last time they shot better was at UNC Asheville last season (57.4 percent).

The Bulldog File: Since the Highlanders and Bulldogs met a few weeks ago, UNC Asheville has gone 1-2. The dropped a tight 54-52 game to Gardner-Webb on January 30 before bouncing back with a big win in the Buc Dome over Charleston Southern, 60-48, on February 4. They hung around but ultimately fell 72-60 to Longwood this past Saturday. Freshman Jamaria Freeman posted a double-double in the loss, adding 14 points with 10 rebounds. After scoring a season-high 24 points for the Bulldogs at Radford, Nia Green has scored in double figures in each of the next three contests as well.
