KEY STORYLINES
Last Time Out: Radford rallied but ultimately fell to Longwood in overtime after a late rally forced the Lancers to battle for an extra five minutes. Angelina Nice sunk a clutch three-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game before Longwood pulled away for an 88-73 final. Georgia Simonsen had a great first half, adding 14 points and finishing with 17 to lead the Highlanders. Longwood dominated the boards and delt Radford their first loss since January 10.

In the Details: Wednesday's loss moved the Highlanders to 7-3 in Big South play and down to third in the conference standings…2-2 in overtime…1-8 when trailing at half…6-10 when shooting below 40 percent…3-6 when opponent shoots better than 40 percent…3-8 when opponent has more free throw attempts…9-5 when winning the turnover battle…4-7 when losing the points in the paint…6-1 when playing on Wednesday.

A Look Back: Radford will try to turn the tide against High Point after falling 78-40 to the Panthers in North Carolina on January 10. The Highlanders were hanging around down 11 at the break before being outscored 49-22 in the second half. Radford made just two three-pointers in the loss. The Panthers control the series 25-37.

Highlanders Never Say Die: Radford managed to erase a 10-point deficit in the final 2:48 at Longwood. A couple clutch three-pointers converted by Joi Williams and Cate Carlson kept them around, and a key offensive rebound and basket by Ellie Taylor made it a one-point game with seven seconds left in regulation. Needing three with five seconds left after Longwood's free throws, Angelina Nice went the length of the court and just beat the buzzer with a three from the top of the arc to complete the rally. Unfortunately, the Highlanders were ice cold in overtime, shooting 1-for-15 from the floor that gave Longwood too good of a chance to pull away.

Piling Up the Honors: Simonsen scored her fifth Big South Freshman of the Week award on Monday after another quality pair of games. She added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a dominating 67-29 win at USC Upstate. On Saturday, she tallied 18 points to tie a career-high while grabbing seven rebounds, including three offensive boards. Simonsen leads the Big South in conference play with a 54.7% field goal percentage and 14 blocks. She also has the seventh-best free throw percentage in conference games (70.3%) and is one of eight players averaging over 13.0 points a game.

Scouting High Point: The Panthers come into the Dedmon Center a well-oiled machine. They've won all 10 of their conference games by double digits, averaging a league-best margin of victory of 23.3 points in Big South play. They've won 11 in a row and 16 of their last 17 contests, including an 88-74 triumph over Winthrop in Rock Hill on Wednesday. The Panthers are No. 5 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 and have been inside the rankings for 10 straight weeks. The ranking is the highest in Big South history since the poll began during the 2010-11 season. Macy Spencer paces the Panthers with 19.7 points a game and scored a career-high 38 points against Winthrop on Wednesday. That total is tied for the third-most in High Point women's basketball history and the most since Camryn Brown's 44 points against Winthrop on February 1, 2020.
