BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Radford Highlanders dropped just their second midweek game of the season, falling to Virginia Tech, 14-0, in seven innings on Tuesday night at English Field. Five Hokie pitchers combined to no hit Radford.

The Highlanders went down 1-0 in the first, avoiding a huge hole with a 6-4-3 double play started by Hunter Keen that got them out of trouble. Virginia Tech added four more in the second inning to jump ahead 5-0.

Eli Baker entered in the third inning and settled down the Hokie bats, tossing a scoreless third and striking out the side in the fourth to keep the deficit at five. Junho Son worked a walk to start the fourth, breaking up the perfect game, but the Highlanders' leadoff man was caught stealing.

Things slipped away from Radford in the fifth, as Virginia Tech added seven runs in the fifth and a couple more in the sixth to lead by a hefty margin. A long battle by Carter Richardson in the final at-bat ended in a strikeout, giving Virginia Tech the seven-inning no hitter.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders will try and bounce back against the Runnin' Bulldogs, hosting Gardner-Webb for a three-game series this weekend. First pitch on Friday, April 17 is set for 6:00 p.m. at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium.
