Radford’s Offense Explodes Once Again for Lopsided 21-2 Victory at Presbyterian

BOX SCORE CLINTON, S.C. – For the second time this week, Radford's offense broke out in a big way as the team piled the runs on late for a 21-2 victory over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon.

Radford's offense continued their incredibly hot hitting as of late and it started early and continued throughout Saturday's win. After both teams were held scoreless in the first, Radford struck first in the second. A pair of errors allowed Devin Parks to reach third base, Noah Toole picked up his first RBI with a groundout.

Now with a lead, starting pitcher Matthew Lefevers worked around three straight hits with two outs to escape a jam and preserve the lead. He was rewarded in the third as it was Toole once again driving in a run with a sacrifice fly after Hunter Keen singled and both Eli Hudgins and Park drew hit by pitches for the 2-0 lead.

The Blue Hose struck for their lone run of the day off Lefevers with a solo shot in the bottom of the third, but he rebounded well with a quick scoreless fourth behind a double play. In the fifth, Radford's bats really got moving. Hudgins singled and Breckin Nace doubled to put Radford right back up two.

Alex Levesque drove in another run off a fielder's choice to give Radford the 4-1 advantage. Lefevers once again stranded a pair of runners in the bottom of the fifth allowing the offense to go right back to work in the sixth. Brooks Simpson and Junho Son both singled and Hudgins knocked in a pair of runs with a single of his own. Before the frame ended, Toole got the sacrifice fly RBI for a 7-1 lead.

Mason Self would enter in relief for a scoreless inning before the offense fully broke things open with 10 runs in the seventh. Keen got the scoring started with an RBI single while Hudgins got yet another RBI with a groundout. All with two outs, Radford would drive in six more runs as Parks, Toole, Carter Richardson, Zach Zelazny, Son and Keen all singled home runners. When all was said and done, Radford led 17-1.

Presbyterian did get a run up in the bottom of the seventh, but Radford wasn't done yet. In the eighth Richardson cleared a bases loaded situation with a double and came home himself thanks to a double from Son to make it 21-2.

Parker Noonan, who entered in the seventh, helped capped the impressive showing from the pitching side as well. He tossed three scoreless innings keeping the game nowhere near in doubt as Radford wrapped up the 21-2 victory.
