Peterson Leads Men's Golf After Day One of Big South Championship

FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Radford Men's Golf program started out strong Sunday afternoon in the first round of stroke play at the Big South Championship, ending the day tied for fifth place after one round of play with CJ Peterson sitting at second individually.

Peterson currently leads the Highlanders' tournament efforts at four-under to end the day, the second best round of any Big South student-athlete Sunday. After a bogey on his first hole of the day, Peterson locked in and didn't look back with a birdie on holes 15 and 18 to end the back nine one under par. Peterson continued his success in the front nine by racking up five more birdies.

Tate Corbett played himself into the second best showing on the team after a strong day one. Corbett had success to start with birdies in holes 14 and 17 to end the back nine two-under. He continued to play strong in the front nine, but had bogies on holes four and five to go two-over and finish even on the day. Corbett ranks 14th in the Big South's field.

Louie Stott and Kieran McCarthy were the next two Highlanders with Stott finding success in holes 13 and 2 with birdies at each. McCarthy also shot one-under in the 512-yard par 5 of hole 18 the same as Peterson. Stott would finish at three-over and McCarthy went four-over on the day.
