Slewa is in his first season as an assistant coach with the women's soccer program after being hired in August 2025.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity to work with a historically competitive program and coach who has proven success in the Big South and NCAA Division I level,” commented Slewa. “Thank you to Coach Sohrabi and Radford Athletics for giving me this opportunity to work underneath a veteran coach who’s winning resume and success speaks for itself as well as an amazing group of student-athletes.”
Brandon Slewa joins the Highlanders after spending the last two seasons as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Division II West Virginia State University. Slewa led the Yellow Jackets to a 27-10-6 overall record during his tenure, including a 20-5-5 mark in Mountain East Conference play. Dominating the MEC in 2024, Slewa helped guide the Yellow Jackets to their first Mountain East Conference Tournament championship with a 2-1 win over Charleston (W.Va.).
With the championship win, the Yellow Jackets also earned their second-ever NCAA postseason berth. West Virginia State advanced to the NCAA Atlantic Regional semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Indiana University of Pennsylvania before falling to top-seeded and host Shepherd. After two seasons, 12 student-athletes earned All-MEC honors and five earned All-Region honors.
Prior to his time in Institute, W. Va., Slewa was a part of Fairmont State's coaching staff in 2022 as an assistant coach. The Falcons captured their first-ever MEC Tournament Championship and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history with his guidance. Additionally, he directly aided in the development of six All-MEC players and four All-Region student-athletes during his stint at Fairmont.
Before his position at Fairmont State, Slewa was the assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Salem University for two years. He gained valuable experience in coaching and recruiting at the NCAA Division II level during his time there. He was named Interim Head Coach for the women's soccer team at one point as well.
Slewa captained the men's soccer teams at Bethany College (Kan.) and Southwestern Illinois College during his playing career. He went on to play in the semi-professional USL League Two for the St. Louis Lions. Slewa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Math Education from Bethany and a master’s in education from Salem.
