Grace Reed

Grace Reed is entering her second season as the head women's tennis coach at Radford after being named to the position September 16th, 2022. Reed took over as the ninth head coach in women's tennis program history and returned to the Highlanders after a four-year playing career as a student athlete at Radford from 2013-16.

"I'm both excited and thankful for the opportunity to return to my alma mater and coach a team that I was once a part of," commented Reed after being named the head coach in 2022. "I look forward to contributing to the success of the program both on and off the court and am eager to begin working with such a bright group of young women as well as the supportive athletic staff in place here at Radford."

Reed most recently served as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Bluefield State University during the 2021-22 season. In her debut year as a collegiate tennis coach, Reed led the men's program to a Round of 32 appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

"We are delighted for Grace Reed to return to her alma mater as the head women's tennis coach," commented Athletics Director Robert Lineburg. "Grace excelled on the court and in the classroom as a student-athlete at Radford University. She has a broad tennis background and we are excited to have an alumna return to lead the program."

Reed played her freshman year of collegiate tennis at NAIA powerhouse, Milligan College where she competed in the number one singles and doubles spots on a team ranked 19th in the nation. While at Milligan, she earned a top-25 national singles ranking as well as Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

After her freshman year at Milligan, she transferred to Radford where she played her next three years. While with the Highlanders, she competed primarily in the number 4 singles spot and as high as number 1 doubles in a competitive Big South Conference where she earned winning records in 2 seasons.

After her final season at Radford, Reed took over for her father and coached the Radford High School girl's tennis team to a 2016 state title. Upon graduation, she started working in public accounting for top 100 accounting firm, Brown Edwards, where she has since been doing seasonal work. She has also taught several camps and clinics over the years as part of her parents' business, Tennis on Main, one of the region's largest providers of tennis instruction and training.

Reed is from Bland, VA and attended Bland High School, playing tennis and volleyball. Reed competed in only 3 seasons (2009, 2010 & 2012) and earned an undefeated singles record and never dropped a set throughout her high school career. She was a six-time State Champion, winning 3 singles and 3 doubles titles and two-time girl's tennis Timesland Player of the Year (2010 & 2012).

Reed earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance from Radford in 2016. From 2012 through 2016 she was a Dean's List Scholar Athlete and was also a Magna Cum Laude graduate at Radford. Reed has four daughters (Adeline, Ella, Eden, Scarlett) and one son (Christopher) with her husband Travis.
