CONWAY, S.C. – A first half goal was enough for Coastal Carolina, which eliminated Radford with a 1-0 win in the first round of the Big South Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday night.
The second-seeded and host Chanticleers (9-9-1) opened up the scoring in 10th minute when Ross Kelly collected a loose ball in the left side of penalty box and fed to Matt Schroeder, who pushed past his defender and sent a laser of a shot just under the right crossbar, giving the Chanticleers the lead.
A 16-5 shot advantage by the Chanticleers helped stifle the Highlanders (7-10-2).
Coastal Carolina advances to face No. 6 UNC Asheville in semifinal action on Friday night.
