ETSU Nips Men's Soccer in Overtime, 1-0

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Following a scoreless 90 minutes of of regulation, East Tennessee State scored off a rebounded penalty kick 48 seconds into overtime to slip past Radford, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer Saturday afternoon.

A foul in the Radford box gave the Buccaneers (6-10-1) a penalty kick at the start of overtime. Tyler Hoek's try was stopped by Radford senior goalkeeper Zach Roszel (Warrenton, Va.), but Mohsen Pourmorteza collected the loose ball and knocked it into the net, lifting ETSU to the 1-0 win.

Roszel made a season-high eight saves in the loss for the Highlanders (7-9-2), including five in the first half. In the 89th minute, Roszel kept the game scoreless when Hoek's corner kick found Ronnie Westbrook, who sent a header towards the net that was turned aside by Roszel.

Radford opens Big South Tournament play on Thursday, Nov. 13, when the seventh-seeded Highlanders take on host and second-seeded Coastal Carolina at approximately 7:30 p.m.
