RADFORD, Va. – A career-best 36-point performance from Aaron Jackson gave Duquesne the spark it needed to overcome a 50–30 rebounding advantage by Radford, en route to a 94-75 win in non-conference men's basketball action at Peters Hall Wednesday night.

"I'm extremely proud of the effort tonight," said Radford head coach Brad Greenberg. "Duquesne played a marvelous game, and Aaron Jackson had as good a night as any guard could have."

For the evening, Jackson finished shooting 15-of-17 from the field, including 5-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc.

Jackson began working his way to a career evening in the first half, scoring 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including a trey with 1:37 remaining in the half to give the Dukes (5-2) their largest lead of the period. His three from the top of the key with just over a minute left in the game gave him 16 points in the second half.

The Highlanders (3-5) weren't able to capitalize on a huge advantage in the rebounding column, pulling down 20 more boards than the Dukes, including 23 on the offensive end.

"We got great shots and did a fantastic job on the backboard," Greenberg said. "But as hot as they were, we missed a lot of tight shots around the basket."

Junior Art Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) did the bulk of the work on the glass for Radford, just missing a school record with a career-best 20 rebounds to go along with 17 points, his third double-double of the season and second in as many contests. The 6-11 center also pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.

Four scorers from each side reached double figures, including 21 from senior Martell McDuffy (Laurel, Md./DeMatha), who connected on 9-of-18 chances from the floor and 3-of-6 from long range for the Highlanders.

McDuffy nearly matched Jackson's first half output with 15 of his own, on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from long range. He was able to get the lead under double-digits on three occasions, including his three-pointer with a minute left before the break to trim Duquesne's lead to nine, 49-40.

Senior Kenny Thomas (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) contributed 14 points for the Highlanders and junior Joey Lynch-Flohr (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) picked up 12.

The Highlanders also got a season-high eight assists from junior Amir Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Quaker Valley), playing all 40 minutes against a school from his hometown.

"Amir played an outstanding game, going all 40 minutes against 94-foot floor pressure. Art had a monster rebounding night, especially on the offensive glass, and Martell had his best game of the season."

Duquesne got twin-figure nights from three other players, including 15 from Eric Evans, who came off the bench and canned 11 in the first half.

Radford shot 37.3 percent from the floor and 5-of-17 from deep, while the Dukes connected on 54.5 percent of their shots in the contest, and 57.1 percent in the opening half.

That torrid pace continued in the second half for Duquesne and Jackson, as he knocked down his first three tries from the floor. He scored on an up-and-under from the right baseline to make it a nine-point lead for the Dukes at 53-44, then pushed the lead back to double digits less than a minute later on a layup in the paint, giving him the career mark.

A deep three pointer from the top of the key by Jackson extended Duquesne's lead to 63-46 with 14:36 remaining.

Despite trailing by as many as 14 in the first 10 minutes of the period, Radford chipped into the lead with an 11-4 run, beginning with just under 10 minutes left in the second half, using a pair of buckets from McDuffy to spark the scoring string.

Lynch-Flohr's turnaround hook in the lane with 8:12 remaining cut it to 71-64, and a Thomas jumper almost a minute later made it a five point game, 71-66, but that's as close as the Highlanders would get.
Duquesne answered Radford's spurt with seven unanswered to stretch the margin back to double digits.

Radford completes a four-game home set on Sunday, hosting James Madison at 2 p.m.
