- Radford enters the fourth meeting all-time with the Mountaineers 3-7 overall. West Virginia has won
four of its last five and brings an 8-2 mark into the contest following an 82-46 win over Miami (OH).
-
Martell McDuffy (Laurel, Md.) led three Highlanders in double figures in their last outing with 14 points, while
Artsiom Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) picked up his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
-
Kenny Thomas (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) continues to pace four Radford players in double figures with a scoring average of 14.6 per outing. Parakhouski, who also ranks second among Big South leaders in rebounding, is averaging 14.2 points, while
Joey Lynch-Flohr (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) and McDuffy are contributing 12.9 and 12.2, respectively.
- The Highlanders will be attempting to accomplish a task that only two non-conference teams have done in 44 games at WVU Coliseum. West Virginia has won 42 of its last 44 non-conference home games and claimed 26 straight contests in the month of December.
- In last year's meeting with the Mountaineers, Radford got 16 points each from Thomas and
Amir Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Quaker Valley), who also handed out 11 assists, but couldn't overcome an 18-for-35 night by West Virginia from three-point range. Despite the loss, the Highlanders shot 50 percent in the final 20 minutes of action and held a 39-35 advantage on the glass.
- Radford will return from the Christmas break Saturday, Dec. 27 with a 7 p.m. contest against Shenandoah at Peters Hall, before traveling to Winston-Salem, N.C., to play Wake Forest, Dec. 30.
