Men's Basketball Continues Road Swing at Gardner-Webb Saturday Evening

HIGHLANDER HITS
- Coming off a thrilling 94-82 double overtime victory at Liberty, Radford looks to extend its road winning streak to five Saturday evening in a 7 p.m. contest at Gardner-Webb.

- It's been ten years since the Highlanders have strung together five straight wins away from home.

- Radford is off to its best start in Big South play since recording a 12-2 conference mark during the 2000-01 season.

-  Including last Saturday's win over the Flames, Radford is 5-2 in overtime contests dating back to last season.

- Ironically, the Highlanders' only trip to Boiling Springs, N.C., resulted in a 100-97 double overtime victory on Dec. 3, 2007.

- Art Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus), who recorded 16 boards in his last outing, currently ranks 13th nationally in rebounds per contest. The 6-11 center also leads three Radford players in double figures averaging 14.3 per contest. The Highlander trio of Parakhouski, Joey Lynch-Flohr (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) and Kenny Thomas (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) rank 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively, among Big South scoring leaders.

- As a team, Radford leads the league or ranks in the top three in the following categories -- Scoring margin (3rd/+2.8), field goal percentage (2nd/.459), field goal percentage defense (1st/.402), rebounding margin (1st/+5.3), blocked shots (2nd/4.05), offensive rebounds (3rd/12.4) and defensive rebounds (1st/27.6).

- Gardner-Webb, which knocked off the Highlanders earlier this season in Radford, enters the fourth all-time meeting 10-10 overall and 6-4 in the league following a 79-74 victory at Coastal Carolina Wednesday.

-  Preseason all-conference selection Grayson Flittner continues to pace the Bulldogs in scoring with an average of 16.5 per contest.

-  Radford will conclude its third of four three-game road trips Monday evening when it travels to Winthrop for a 7 p.m. tip.

SERIES HISTORY
- Tonight's meeting is just the third all-time with Gardner-Webb holding a 2-1 edge.

- The two teams split last year's meetings with the road team winning on both occassions.

- Earlier this season, Gardner-Webb connected on 9-of-13 shots to begin the second half and placed six players in double figures to defeat Radford 91-71 in both teams' Big South men's basketball opener at Peters Hall on Dec. 4.

LAST TIME OUT
- Parakhouski and Thomas each recorded double-doubles to lead five Radford players in double figures as the Highlanders ended Liberty's 11-game home winning streak with a 94-82 victory in double overtime Saturday evening at the Vines Center.

- Tied 78-78 after the first extra session, Radford opened the second overtime with seven straight points and never looked back outscoring the Flames 16-4 in the stanza.

- To go along with his league-leading 10th double-double (22 points, 16 rebounds) of the season, Parakhouski led Radford on the defensive end of the floor with six blocks in 50 minutes of action. Thomas recorded 21 points and a personal best 12 rebounds to finish the night with his first career double-double. Amir Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Quaker Valley), who also went the distance, added 16, while Lynch-Flohr and Chris McEachin (Norfolk, Va./Norview) scored 13 and 10, respectively.

- With 34 ticks remaining in regulation, Brolin Floyd hit one of his two attempts from the line to put the Flames up, 70-68, but a Parakhouski put back with 15 seconds left sent the Highlanders into their third overtime contest of the season. Radford had four chances in the last 11 seconds, but was unable to capitalize.

- Thomas forced the second overtime by hitting a free throw with 12 seconds left in the first overtime.

- The Highlanders drilled 53.8 percent of their field goal attempts after regulation to finish with a 47.4 percent clip, while holding Liberty to just 29-of-74 (39.2 percent). Both teams struggled at the charity stripe. Radford ended the contest 14-of-31, while the Flames were just 10-for-18.
