RADFORD, Va. – Five home runs on 15 hits fueled Virginia Tech's 15-1 win over Radford in non-conference baseball on Tuesday afternoon at Radford University Baseball Field.
Designated hitter Buddy Sosnoskie, his brother and catcher Anthony Sosnoskie, second baseman Michael Seaborn, shortstop Tony Balisteri, and center fielder Steve Bumbry went deep for the Hokies (9-5).
Buddy Sosnoskie led off the afternoon with a homer over the center field fence, Anthony Sosnoskie (3rd) and Seaborn (5th) hit two-run shots, Balisteri took a three-run swing in the fourth, and Bumbry added a grand slam in the top of the ninth.
A total of 30 position players and 12 pitchers between the two teams saw action in the Tuesday matinee.
Right-hander Clark Labitan (3-1) picked up the win in two innings of relief, as five Tech relievers combined to work six scoreless innings to close out the game.
Radford (4-6) sophomore right-hander
Cassidy McDaniel (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) took the loss (0-1), allowing six runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Junior right fielder
Reggie Keen (Danville, Va./G.W.-Danville) led the Highlanders at the plate with a 2-for-3 day, driving in Radford's lone run on a third inning single to left field.
Radford opens up Big South play this weekend, welcoming High Point to town for a three-game set. First pitch in game 1 is set for Friday at 3 p.m.
