FARMVILLE, Va. - Michelle DeSieno scored twice after halftime, including the golden goal in the second overtime period, to lift Longwood to a 2-1 win over Radford in women's soccer Friday night.
All of the game's scoring came in the second half, and Radford freshman
Mary Wiley (Radford, Va./Radford) started it in the 60th minute. Wiley took a pass from junior
Kathleen Jarvis (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) and connected on a shot from the top corner of the penalty box to give the Highlanders (3-3-0) a 1-0 advantage.
Wiley's goal was her second of the season and second in as many games.
DeSieno carried the Lancers (3-2-0) the rest of the way, as her 69th minute tally from Lindsey Ottavio tied the score at 1-1.
In the second overtime, Ottavio sent a cross into the box that DeSieno handled on a one-touch strike for the game-winner in the 103rd minute, giving the Lancers a 2-1 victory.
Radford sophomore goalkeeper
Lisa Lubke (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) posted her third five-save effort of the season, including four after halftime.
The Highlanders return home to face American on Sunday at 1 p.m.
