WOMEN’S SOCCER DROPS 1-0 CONTEST AT WINTHROP

BOX SCORE

ROCK HILL, S.C. –
The Radford women's soccer team had their six-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 1-0 setback to Winthrop Friday night at Eagle Field.

The first conference loss of the season drops the Highlanders to 9-5-1 (3-1-1 BSC), while Winthrop improves to 2-8-2 (2-1-1 BSC).

Ann Lutzenkirchen came off the bench to net the game-winner for the Eagles in the 65th minute.  Allie Vandewater attempted a shot on goal and Radford keeper Che' Brown (Manassas, Va. / Manassas Park) made the save, but the ball remained loose in the box.  Lutzenkirchen collected the rebound and found the back of the net for the only score of the game.

Despite the loss, Radford outshot Winthrop 16-13 and each team had six shots on goal.

Freshman Julie Ruh'e (Monrovia, Md. / Urbana) and senior Latrice Lee (Woodbridge, Va. / Forest Park) each contributed five shots, but Winthrop keeper Kelsy Weavil played a solid game, making five saves.

Brown also made six stops for the Highlanders.

Radford travels to Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on Gardner-Webb in its last road match of the season Sunday at 2 p.m.
