RADFORD, Va. – Looking to extend their five-game unbeaten streak, Radford women's soccer welcomes Coastal Carolina to Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Chanticleers hold the advantage in the all-time series 3-8-2 and won last year's matchup in Conway, S.C. 1-0. Coastal Carolina comes into the game with a 6-6-0 (2-1-0 BSC) record, fresh off a win at VMI, 2-1.
Radford (8-4-1, 2-0-1 BSC) is led by its defense, highlighted by freshman
Tyler Drake, who shut down the nation's leading scorer, Marky Boyce, on Friday night in a hard-fought double-overtime draw against Charleston Southern.
Freshman keeper Che' Brown recorded her first double-digit save effort of her young career, with 10 against the Buccaneers. Brown twice made back-to-back critical saves to keep the score deadlocked at 1-1.
New combinations have been key for Radford as
Mary Wiley and Julie Ruh'e have been extra aggressive as of late. Wiley continued her outstanding play with a score in the 36th minute. It marked the fourth consecutive game that Wiley has found the back of the net and now has five on the season.
Alongside Wiley, Ruh'e has recorded a goal and two assists in her last two matches, running her season total to 17 points (seven goals, three assists).
The Chanticleers' Anna Tupy leads her team in goals with three and currently sits in seventh on the all-time scoring list at Coastal Carolina.
