RADFORD, Va. – First-year head coach
Marc Reeves and his fifth-seeded Radford Highlanders will take on Liberty in the opening round of the Big South Men's Soccer Tournament on the campus of High Point University Thursday at 5 p.m.
“Our group has worked hard and prepared well for the upcoming Big South Tournament,” commented Reeves. “We believe we can be successful but are solely focused on one game. We all know we have one last opportunity to play in a win and advance, or lose and be done game against a very strong Liberty side.”
The Highlanders enter the quarterfinals 6-8-3 overall, while fourth-seeded Liberty comes in with a mark of 10-6-1.
In their Sept. 18 meeting at Cupp Stadium earlier this season, Radford won the tightly contested match 1-0 on
Iyiola Awosika's (London, England / Aylesbury Grammar) 54th minute score.
Both teams finished with 12 shots, while the Flames held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-4.
The winner of tomorrow's third quarterfinal match will meet the victor of top-seeded High Point and UNC Asheville, Friday evening at 7 p.m.
Radford is in search of its fourth Big South Tournament title and first since 2000.
