Radford Pregame Notes
-- For the first time in 30 years, the Highlanders will begin a season with a pair of home contests in consecutive days as they host Emory & Henry on Saturday at 4 p.m. before entertaining Methodist at the same time on Sunday afternoon.

-- Radford, which returns just one starter from last year's club, finished the 2009-10 campaign 19-12 overall, while earning the Big South's No. 2 seed with a 13-5 conference mark.

-- The winningest team in conference play the last three years, the Highlanders were picked to finish ninth in the 2010-11 preseason poll, as voted on by the league head coaches and media panel.

-- Among the five letterwinners returning is sophomore Blake Smith (Charlotte, N.C./United Faith Christian Academy), who earned a spot on the Big South's All-Freshman team a year ago. The three-time conference freshman of the week started 23 contests, while averaging 9.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest in 2009-10.

-- Radford is 17-19 all-time in season openers, including a 2-1 mark under fourth-year head coach Brad Greenberg. Despite their below-.500 mark in season openers, the Highlanders are 12-3 in openers at home, which includes a 10-2 mark at the Dedmon Center.

-- In addition to having to replace four 1,000-point scorers, the Highlanders graduated a total of six players from last year's club that accounted for 81.6 percent of the offense and 80 percent of the rebounding.

-- 10 of the 15 players that make up the 2010-11 Radford men's basketball roster are freshmen and sophomores.

-- Prior to the 2007-08 season, Radford and Emory & Henry hadn't met on the hardwood since the 1978-79 campaign.

-- Behind 32 points from Kenny Thomas and a 24-point, 13-rebound, 6-block performance from Eric Hall, the Highlanders defeated Emory & Henry, 124-109 (1/7/08) in the last meeting.

-- Radford set a number of single-game school records in the last meeting -- Highest FG% (75.4% / 49-65), Most Assists (33), Most Blocks (12) and Most Combined Points (233).

-- Radford's 124 points against the Wasps two years ago are also a Dedmon Center record.

-- Emory & Henry won the first meeting 74-59 (1974), but Radford has won the last six.

-- Along with returning nine letterwinners from last year's team that went 4-22, the Wasps welcome the addition of eight freshmen.

Methodist Pregame Notes
-- Methodist returns three starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's squad that finished just 3-23 overall. Like Emory & Henry, the Monarchs welcome the addition of eight freshmen.

-- Radford leads the all-time series 4-0.

-- Methodist is coached by David Smith, who is 144-147 in 11 seasons at the helm.

-- Despite winning just three contests a year ago, the Monarchs return their top two scorers and rebounders. Tanner Carnes led the squad in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds, while Mark Jernigan wasn't far behind at 14.3 points and 5.3 rebounds.
