ATHENS, Ga. -- Radford enters the 2010 NCAA Softball Championships after winning its second straight Big South Championship with a 5-2 win over Winthrop on May 15.

The Highlanders (36-15), making their second NCAA appearance, will face No. 25 Florida State (43-16) on Friday at 2:30 pm in the first game of the Athens, Ga. regional. After the No. 2 (FSU) and 3 (RU) seeds battle, host and national six-seed Georgia (43-11) will take on Southern Conference champion Elon (38-19) in the night cap.
Game Notes
In the league championship game, Radford rallied from an early 2-0 hole with a five-run second and received six innings of shutout relief from
Kellie Snooks to claim the 2010 league title. The Highlanders reached the championship game with a 5-2 first round victory over Gardner-Webb, followed by a 8-3 triumph over Winthrop in the semifinals.
In Radford's first NCAA appearance in 2009, it dropped a tough 3-1 contest to a familiar foe in Georgia, who went on to be a national semifinalist. The Highlanders bounced back with a 9-5 victory over Campbell, before dropping a 9-4 decision to host North Carolina.
The winners of the day one contests will face each other at 12:00 pm on Saturday, while the losers will battle at 2:30 pm.
