RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team will journey to the nation's capital to take on American Friday at 4 p.m. and return home on Sunday at 1 p.m. to square off against Longwood at Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium.
The victor in Friday evening's game with American (0-8-0) will seize control in the all-time series, as the two programs are currently tied at 2-2-0. Longwood (4-4-0) has the edge against the Highlanders (4-2-0) in their series 2-4-0, with the Lancers winning last year's matchup in double-overtime fashion, 2-1.
Freshman forward Julie Ruh'e leads the squad with four goals and one assist. As a team, the Highlanders have a significant shot differential of 47 (110-63) and lead their opponents in nearly every statistical category.
Ruh'e converted the equalizer in Radford's last match against Old Dominion on Sunday to force overtime. She received a through ball from senior
Latrice Lee in the second half and slid it past the Monarchs' keeper.
Freshman goalkeeper Che' Brown has been remarkable for Radford, halting 24 shots with a 0.54 goals-against average and three clean sheets.
