WOMEN’S SOCCER EMBARKS ON SEASON-LONG ROAD SWING

LIVE STATS

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team (4-4-0) hits the road to embark on a season-long four-game road swing, beginning with Tennessee Tech on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1:00 p.m. and Alabama A&M Sept. 27 at 4:00 p.m.

The Radford/Tennessee Tech series dates back to 1999, with the two programs knotted up at three wins apiece. Tennessee Tech enters the match at 2-6-0, having dropped two straight contests.

Mary Wiley assisted on the game-winning goal in last season's meeting with the Golden Eagles, as the Highlanders walked out of Cupp Stadium with a 1-0 victory.

The Alabama A&M matchup will mark the third time the two programs have met on the pitch, with each team owning a win. The Bulldogs walk into Monday's matchup with Radford with a 0-9-0 record.

Going into Saturday, the Highlanders look to end a three-game skid, having dropped two matches in extra time against Old Dominion and American and falling to Longwood on Sunday, 2-0.

“These games will mark the momentum we carry into the Big South. To get some positive results on the road would be big going into conference season, said head coach Ben Sohrabi.”

Freshman goalkeeper Che' Brown has been a bright spot for the Highlanders. Brown has a 0.79 GAA, has stopped 33 shots and recorded three shutouts. Her save percentage, goals-against average and shutout percentage are second-best in the league.

Julie Ruh'e ranks fourth in the conference in a number of categories (goals, game-winning goals, points) and hopes to become the first Highlander of the season with double-figure points, as she currently sits at nine points (four goals, one assist).

The offensive attack will look to revert to the goal-scoring ways of the early season when Radford netted 10 goals in the first two games. Radford has scored one goal in the last three matches and hopes to change that on Saturday.

“We need to be a bit more creative in the attack. We've played some good teams as of late and against good teams you have to be creative in the attacking third of the field.”
