RADFORD, Va. – Freshman Julie Ruh'e netted a first-half score, which proved to be enough to give Radford women's soccer a 1-0 victory over Iona in the final match of the Best Western Huntington Mall Invitational Sunday afternoon at Sam Hood Field.
With the win, the Highlanders improve to 3-1-0 on the season and Iona drops to 1-6-0.

Latrice Lee dribbled the ball in the box with the defense on her left hip in the 33rd minute and dished it over to Ruh'e, who beat a diving Trista Rivera to score the only goal of the match. The goal was the third of the season for Ruh'e.
Radford's offensive attack was consistent all game as eight Highlanders took a shot on the net and held the advantage as a team in shots, 18-13, and corner kicks, 10-4.
Che' Brown stopped five shots in the match, recording her second collegiate shutout and the Gaels' Rivera corralled eight saves. It also marked the third shutout in the first four games for the Highlanders.
Iona's Abby Dixon blasted a shot from 20 yards out 1:39 into the match, but Brown reached full extension in a diving effort to punch the ball over the net, dodging an early deficit. Dixon fired six total shots for the Gaels.
The Highlanders will return home to square off against future Big South foe Campbell on Thursday, Sept. 9 at Cupp Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
