RADFORD, Va. – Radford and Gardner-Webb played to a scoreless draw in Big South men's soccer action Saturday evening at Cupp Stadium. The tie moves the Highlanders to 8-7-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the league, while the Runnin' Bulldogs are now 8-6-3 and 5-2-1.
 
Prior to the contest, Radford honored seniors 
Iyiola Awosika (London, England / Aylesbury Grammar), 
Kevin Fleming (Centreville, Va. / Westfield), 
Brian Gwanzura (Harare, Zimbabwe / Harare), 
Aldo Macias (Dumfries, Va. / Edison), 
Carter Mills (Culpeper, Va. / Culpeper County), 
Anthony Payne (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn Park) and 
Ryan Stinnett (Woodbridge, Va. / Woodbridge).
 
The best chance for either team in the first period came from the Highlanders' 
Luis Grande (Caracas, Venezuela / U.E. Colegio Los Arcos), who missed wide of the near post from inside the 6-yard box.
 
Shortly after Radford's
 Ryan Taylor (Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) made a pair of impressive saves in the 61
st minute to keep the contest scoreless, Grande ripped a low line drive from the top of the box just right of frame.
 
Both club's had good looks at goal in the waning minutes of regulation. Gardner-Webb's came from Jonas Nader, while Gwanzura was unable to capitalize for the Highlanders with 17 seconds left.
 
Radford outshot the Runnin Bulldogs 18-13, which included a 6-1 advantage in the second overtime period. Gardner-Webb finished with an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.
 
Each team had three shots on goal and three saves.
 
Radford will conclude its regular season with a pair of road contests beginning with a 4 p.m. match at Liberty on Wednesday.
