BOX SCORE

RADFORD, Va. – Radford and Gardner-Webb played to a scoreless draw in Big South men's soccer action Saturday evening at Cupp Stadium. The tie moves the Highlanders to 8-7-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the league, while the Runnin' Bulldogs are now 8-6-3 and 5-2-1.

Prior to the contest, Radford honored seniors Iyiola Awosika (London, England / Aylesbury Grammar), Kevin Fleming (Centreville, Va. / Westfield), Brian Gwanzura (Harare, Zimbabwe / Harare), Aldo Macias (Dumfries, Va. / Edison), Carter Mills (Culpeper, Va. / Culpeper County), Anthony Payne (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn Park) and Ryan Stinnett (Woodbridge, Va. / Woodbridge).

The best chance for either team in the first period came from the Highlanders' Luis Grande (Caracas, Venezuela / U.E. Colegio Los Arcos), who missed wide of the near post from inside the 6-yard box.

Shortly after Radford's Ryan Taylor (Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) made a pair of impressive saves in the 61st minute to keep the contest scoreless, Grande ripped a low line drive from the top of the box just right of frame.

Both club's had good looks at goal in the waning minutes of regulation. Gardner-Webb's came from Jonas Nader, while Gwanzura was unable to capitalize for the Highlanders with 17 seconds left.

Radford outshot the Runnin Bulldogs 18-13, which included a 6-1 advantage in the second overtime period. Gardner-Webb finished with an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.

Each team had three shots on goal and three saves.

Radford will conclude its regular season with a pair of road contests beginning with a 4 p.m. match at Liberty on Wednesday.
