MEN’S SOCCER FALLS AT LIBERTY, 3-0

BOX SCORE

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Radford, which played a man down for a majority of the contest, fell to Liberty, 3-0, in Big South men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Osborne Stadium.

The loss drops the Highlanders to 8-8-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the conference, while the Flames improve to 9-6-1 and 4-4-1.

Radford had a couple of good scoring chances early in the first half, including a sixth minute header that hit the cross bar.

The Highlanders put four shots on goal in the opening period, three of which came from Iyiola Awosika (London, England / Aylesbury Grammar).

Juan Nino put the Flames on the board in the 33rd minute off a pass by Darren Amoo from the top of the box.

Shortly after Nino's first goal of the season, Radford's Chel Ho Kim Park (Santander, Spain / Universidad Europea de Madrid) was issued consecutive yellow cards in the 37th minute, which forced the Highlanders to have play with 10 the rest of the way.

Liberty got goals from Amoo and Phillip Asewah just a minute and 31 seconds apart midway through the second half to extend its lead to 3-0. Amoo's fifth strike of the season came off a header, while Asewah put away a Kyle Breitmeyer give-and-go from six-yards out at the 64:40 mark.

Both clubs finished with 12 shots, including five each on frame. The Highlanders held a slim 6-5 margin in corner kicks.

Radford will conclude its regular season with a 12 p.m. contest at Winthrop Saturday.
