RADFORD, Va. – The “Track Spotlight” series is a weekly interview with one women's track and field student-athlete. This week features junior
Lindsey Noe.
Noe, the school record-holder in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault, has her sights on the podium in two weeks at Conference. Her vaulting career has been short, as she only started the event during her senior year of high school. Promising things are expected for the remainder of her junior year and heading into her senior campaign.
“Lindsey is a very dynamic, energetic athlete that brings a lot to the table. She has a genuine love for the sport and is a great teammate,” commented assistant coach Ernest Moss.
Q: You currently own both indoor and outdoor records in the pole vault. What went through your mind at the Akron Invitational (indoor) and Big South Championships (outdoor) when you set these records?
A: I was extremely happy that I got the school record in vault, especially since I was so new at the event because I started vaulting in January of my senior year of high school.
Q: When you began your athletics career, you competed in the pentathlon. Do you feel having that background made you a better vaulter?
A: I tried the pentathlon last year for fun and actually scored in conference, which amazed me! I believe working on all the different events helped me to become a better overall athlete, which led to improvement in the pole vault.
Q: If you could master any other event, what would it be and why?
A: If I could master any other event it would be the steeplechase. I love hurdles but I think it would be so much fun to run long distances and jump hurdles while landing in water.
Q: You have accomplished so much during your time here at RU. What accomplishment are you most proud of and do you have a most memorable moment?
A: I am most proud of getting the indoor and outdoor school record in the pole vault. I'm also proud of placing in the 400 hurdles my freshman year and the multi's during my sophomore year.
Q: Upon graduation at Radford University, what are your career objectives?
A: I want to continue my education and become a physical therapist for athletes. I also hope that I can coach the pole vault on the side at the college level.
