WYATT MOVES ON AT USATF OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS



RESULTS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –
Radford's Vincent Wyatt placed fifth in heat three of the men's 110-meter hurdles by clocking a 13.80 to advance past Saturday's first round at the USATF Outdoor Championships hosted by the Sacramento Sports Commission.
 
Wyatt, who finished 14th overall out of 20 competitors, will run again Sunday in the semifinal round. The 16 semifinalists run at 3:25 p.m. ET. Eight of those 16 will advance to the 110-meter hurdles final, which is set to begin at 5:52 p.m. ET.
 
Saturday's performance marked the first race for Wyatt since he placed sixth at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
 
Ronnie Ash was the top qualifier in the first round with his 13.30 effort. Ryan Wilson (13.31) and David Oliver (13.37) took second and third, respectively. Oregon's Devon Allen, who captured the collegiate national championship for this event two weeks ago, finished fourth at 13.41. Aleec Harris of USC rounded out the Top 5 with his 13.42.
 
The 2014 USATF Outdoor Championships bring the nation's best athletes to Northern California and is also the final stop on the 2014 Outdoor USATF Championship Series.
 
Site of the 2000 and 2004 Team USA Olympic Trials for track and field, Sacramento has hosted several prominent events recently, including the 2011 World Masters Championships, the 2010 USA Masters Championships, the 2010 USA Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships and the 1995 USA Outdoor Championships. Sacramento also has been home to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
